Sermon Discussion
- Spend some time checking in with one another and praying for one another. Are there known needs in your life group or in your group’s “sphere of influence” that you can address?
- What is one takeaway from the sermon and one question that you had after hearing the sermon?
- How would you define wisdom? What are some ways that wisdom differs from knowledge? What is the difference between reading Proverbs as principles vs. promises?
- Read Proverbs 3:1–4. What do these verses say about peace? Is peace possible even in the midst of chaos? How does Jesus’s teaching in John 9:1–3 help us understand peace in the midst of suffering and hardship?
- Read Proverbs 3:5–6. What does it mean to trust in the Lord with all your heart?
- In our sermon, Pastor Jordan emphasized that God is sovereign, wise, and good—both in the good times and the bad. In what ways is this view of God’s character essential when facing hardship?
- Read Proverbs 3:11–12. What does it look like to despise what God is doing in the midst of affliction? How can we guard against this attitude?
- Read Romans 8:18. Does God make light of our afflictions and sufferings? What are some ways that God gives us permission to grieve while also trusting in him for the future?
- Take some time to pray for one another as a group.
